More than 130 Cambodians Remain in Red Zone of Hamas-Israel Battle

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Manet said that as of Tuesday morning, October 10, the Israeli government has evacuated 323 Cambodians to safety while 131 others remain in the danger zone and are trapped amid the violence.

The PM made note of the Cambodians endangered by the Israel-Hamas battle during the launch of his National Strategy for Informal Economic Development 2023-2029 and said that the safety of Cambodians everywhere is something that the government cares about. He has ordered the relevant ministries to work with the Israeli government since the first day of the conflict on October 7. According to the PM, there are 454 Cambodians currently living in Israel. Since Cambodia does not have an embassy there, citizens are being asked to contact the closest embassies in Turkey and Egypt.

The death count continues to rise as thousands are trapped amidst the violence between Hamas and Israel. So far, over 1,100 people have been killed, including one Cambodian student. Former Prime Minister Hun Sen chimed in on the issue, telling Cambodians to remain in the region in a show of solidarity and trust in Israel.
